Bordeaux

Bordeaux for me is the most cinematic city of France (well, you might argue it’s second to Paris).

However, finding a quiet and picturesque spot for aerial dance proved to be a challenge, much like in Toulouse, despite both cities being quite green with their parks.

We headed to Parc de l'Ermitage and chose one of the walking routes towards the Château des Iris. Lucky we were!

Here, you can stroll around, visit a small farm with animals, enjoy a playground for kids (where I warmed up—trying something new is always good for the brain), and find a spot for a picnic.

There were several trees suitable for aerial dance, but I preferred the one situated a bit behind the Château.

Best time for training

  • Any time with daylight, no rain, and not too hot. The location is well-covered with trees. I was there around 4PM.

Advantages and disadvantages

+ Average height, you can combine the slings to get the desired height for training.

+ Plenty of space for spinning.

+ You can experiment with video angles and get unexpectedly good results.

- You might need a partner to help get onto the tree or use long silks. I started using my 2m sling to reach the branches; it seems easier than using silks, as at some point it can function as a 'ladder.' I plan to make a video in the future to demonstrate this.

Equipment used

  • 1m sling

  • 1 falcon strap

  • swivel

  • 2 carabiners
